- Section 508
- WCAG 1&2
- PAS 78
- SENDA
- RNIB
Cite will endevour to make all content on our websites directly accessible to the widest possible audience, providing alternative methods to access content where this is not achievable
We will create clear and logical, w3c validated, CSS layouts using full semantic mark up, relative font sizes and color as a secondary method of conveying importance, that retain their usefullness even with reduced functionality
Web design has developed greatly over the last few years both in terms of it's technical ability but also it's social awareness. Cite are great beleivers in equal access and build all our websites to a minimum of WAI–AA standards.
It is now (at long last) accepted that websites should make efforts to ensure that their content is as widely accessible as possible. Guidance from bodies such as w3c and RNIB have enabled designers to see how their websites are used in the real world. With sites like YouTube becoming more and more popular, issues concerning access to video and other media have come to the fore.
So what are the benefits of an accessible website?
- Widest possible audience/customer base
- A clear usable website encourages vistors
- Legal obligations forfilled
- xhtml/css design method out performs similar website in a "traditional" style
- Semantic mark up provides extra information for search engines (and cool gizmos)
- Future proof
And that's without even mentioning how it will benefit your users.
